Thanks so much about that tip for taking the caps lock off when they type it that way. It wasn’t working for users with caps lock on. Really helpful.

Hi,
I currently have got Apache+SysCP and would like to switch to lighty because of the performance issues.
Any more hints you can tell me about? Otherwise maybe I’d set it up in a virtual Xen domain to test it first?

Thanks a lot for the tip on php-cgi.ini file, I won’t touch the settings too much there…

For the people that don’t understand what this page is about, allthough it is highly precious stuff. Each website has 2 different URL’s, with the www in front, and also without www, searchengines see these as two different pages, that means by re-direct one of them to the other, you can effectively consolidate all of your link popularity to a single URL.

Basically, what the plugin does is:

1 it combines multiple CSS or Javascript files into one big file (bundle)
2 it compacts this bundle by removing whitespace and comments
3 it caches the bundle by using Rails default page caching mechanism
4 it creates an “accesspoint” to the bundle by adding a route.
I was using this already, but nice tutorial anyway…

I just added “mod_compress” to the modules in the array “server.modules” and

{{{ mod_compress

compress.cache-dir = “/var/www/cache/”
compress.filetype = (“text/css”, “text/javascript” )

in the /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf file. Obviously I created the directory /var/www/cache giving to it the permission needed by lighttpd to write there.

And that’s just a small part of the unlimited capacities of Lighttpd!

Apart the hardcoding of the domain, what if we cannot use .htaccess?
